Orbit collaborated with BW: Workplace Experts to deliver this exciting workplace scheme for a global consulting firm in Canary Wharf. The design created ‘one community’ from two separate business units in a cohesive way fostering collaboration between the 2 units by emphasising communal spaces and shared resources.
The 50,000 sq ft space has been transformed into a single, cohesive space, bringing people together for a ‘one community’ vision. The original business units were spread across two floors located in one building, which highlighted a need for more cultural integration throughout the space. Whilst connectivity was key in the brief, there was also a need to respect the identity of each business unit.
The central staircase creates a central focal point in the building to encourage interaction between the two units, providing access to shared amenities. This consists of designated quiet areas, bookable meeting rooms, a work lounge with access to the terrace and multiple focus rooms.
The new office space also has inclusivity at the heart of the design for its current 600+ employees. The refurbishment includes a reception desk that accommodates both standing and seated levels, finishings on door handles are designed for maximum accessibility, and an audio induction loop in the large multi-purpose room allows employees with hearing impairments to utilise the space.
