Creating a Collaborative and Flexible Workplace for Dehns

Orbit Architects led the design coordination and delivery of Dehns’ new London office at Old Bailey, bringing to life a sophisticated workspace that balances collaboration, flexibility, and privacy. Taking the project from Stage 3 onwards, we worked closely with the client team and BW to  coordinate the design, ensuring it met their operational needs while reflecting their professional identity.

As one of Europe’s leading intellectual property law firms, Dehns required an environment that would support both focused, confidential work and dynamic collaboration. To achieve this, collaboration areas and meeting rooms were positioned at the entrance of the floorplate, making them the centrepiece of the scheme. Cellular offices, designed with high acoustic performance, were strategically placed at the core of the layout, while open-plan workspaces were located around the perimeter, maximising natural daylight and offering striking views of St Paul’s and nearby green spaces.

One of the key challenges was ensuring the highest level of acoustic performance to protect sensitive legal discussions. Our team worked closely with acousticians and our supply chain partners to develop precisely detailed partitions and finishes, achieving the right balance between privacy and openness.

The result is a clean, contemporary office with a variety of workplace settings designed to encourage flexibility and collaboration. By integrating enclosed offices, open workspaces, and shared areas, Dehns’ new office supports the evolving needs of their team while reinforcing a modern, professional working environment.
